How many of you ride motorbikes....

Recommended Posts

Hi!!

I own 6 Piaggio Vespas. Mi oldest one is a 1964 model, with a jammed cylinder, followed by a 1979 160gt that will be on the road next year..

Following up i own a Px125XL OF 1990, a 200 Tx of 1989, and my daily driver is a 2005 PX 150 with cataliyst and disc brakes. My ex girlfriend has a dead vespa to give me, but i do not know when it can be collected..

In the next months i am going to get myself a good road bike....a provisional japaneese something, unless i find funds for a new Harley Davidson, or a Ducati Mille...

I have driven from Granada (south Spain), to Madrid, and back..1080km in 3 days.. People stop me in the street to ask me if i did the trip..(i am a sort of local hero..)

I started with a honda magna 750 and yamaha xt225, then got a triumph thunderbird, then a bmw 650gs, then a triumph bonneville and then another bmw 650gs. Hubby started with the honda transalp, then nighthawk, then xr650, then a triumph sprint, tiger, and trophy, then a bmw 1150gs, then a triumph speed triple. Right now we've settled on the bmw 650gs, and triumph bonneville and speed triple. Plus a Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works tuning and shocks -- it's like a motorbike with 4 wheels. In Britsh Racing Green, of course. :D

A friend of mine was knocked off his bike lastweek. He is still out cold in hospital. I have no idea whether he will live or die at this point.

So I must confess, I am not a big advocate of motor bikes - to many of my friends have died or been seriously hurt on them.

Not that I have anything about the machines, as I think they are great! I just dont think they have any place on the mental roads of England right now.

Hey TP!

You are a serious biker-chick! Too much fun!

I don't know how to ride a motorcycle myself but my ex was a Harley junkie. So, naturally I had the boots, the jacket and the shades. 8)

Still have a Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Fat Boy sitting in my garage...that needs to be removed yesterday. Hey, I might just give it away soon!

osama and his fellows should bomb all those american overconsumers, polluting the world...go ahead in the name of allah...destroy vancouver! save the planet!

seriously, there are very few who really are childishly obsessed with motorbikes or cars here. It is kind of looked down on as being something not smart to be interested in.

Please hurry up Ed, and I hope you can find away to keep this troll out.

He keeps slithering back in.

I love riding. It's a terrific way to clear the mind and get into the zone. And the rush of a good deep turn is something. I focus on being the best I can with every outing. My little 650 is on/off road capable so I can pretty much go anywhere.

Don't you dare give that bike away! We've got the Bonne just sitting there now, we're going to let it age gracefully. These babies are collectables.

Honey, we are going to have to ride the wide open highways together someday! Have you ever heard of the seven sisters in Wales? That's my dream holiday. Fun, fun, fun!!

Have a wonderful Christmas VickyGirl.

Big hugs,

Twickle Purple

Most of my friends are motorbikers...we all care for each other, and help when any of us has a problem....i think it was a great move, to become a motorcyclist, even thou i am into Vespas...

It is great community for sure. One of my first rides on my magna many moons ago I ran out of gas  I was a real newbie, k? Anyway, I'm on the highway overpass, big bike at my side and full leathers. No one will stop and help. Finally a young fellow in a pick up stops and gives me a lift, he was a fellow rider and we had great chats along the way to get fuel. A lot of stereotypes have changed since then and there are many mid-lifers and executive types now that ride, so I probably wouldn't have such a wait if it happened today. And, when I'm on my bike I wave and get waved at ( in a very cool manner of course 8) ) by fellow bikers, there is no other activity that imparts such a fellowship.

Checkin' out the KTMs come spring! :D

motorbiking, that is cool!

twickle purple, she is my hero! :D

Marc,

Do we have to keep reminding Ed who you are to get rid of you?

Im sorry, but you are what the crude and ignorant Brits refer to as a PRIME BELLEND!

Either act like a member of this SUPPORT community... or go else where! Is that to much to ask?

What is a troll?

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

--

One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

--

A dumbass who makes idiotic posts in message boards newsgroups for the sole purpose of p.i.s.s.i.n.g people off, often lacking in intelligence. Sometimes compared to people who pass you by on the sidewalk then grab you in inappropriate places.

--

A member of an internet forum who continually harangues and harasses others. Someone with nothing worthwhile to add to a certain conversation, but rather continually threadjacks or changes the subject, as well as thinks every member of the forum is talking about them and only them. Trolls often go by multiple names to circumvent getting banned.

--

Pretends a language barrier when it suits them.

--

An old, unattractive gay man who hits on young men, and cannot seem to understand that they want nothing to do with him.

--

A joker who disguises outrageously stupid statements or questions, intended to trap people into believing it is serious.

--

Any person who is so miserable and lacking self worth that said person makes his/her lifes goal of p.i.s.s.i.n.g others off and generally being a lamer.

You BET! I would love to go riding with you, sometime! I know what you mean about that 'high' when you're riding. Even as a passenger, I sometimes felt like I could just take off into the air. Amazing.

As soon as I learn to ride, the Seven Sisters it is!

I also love how stereotypes are shattered when you meet other bikers! While riding, I met executives, doctors, lawyers, a judge even, who take off their suits and coats and just need to 'hit the road' on weekends. Like, riding is the great equalizer...we are all the same in our 'need for speed'! Love it.

Big hugs and you have a very, very, merry Christmas, my sweet friend!

Love,

Vicky

No doubt there is a rush to a fast bike. I dont have a license to ride them, but I used to go to work on the back of my cousins Ninja. Well, it woke my up, thats for sure!

But I would never have on for the road in Britain. On these roads, they are a death sentance. Perhaps it would be cool to ride them on race tracks though, I think Id like that ALOT.

Well! I do declare, that I had no idea that you were allowed to be both a Canadian and a Gay at the the same time. Come the spring I'm shipping out to Prince Edward Island!

(The term Eskimo Lesbo has a certain ring to it - don't you think?)

In the meantime - do you like the way I'm wearing my new front bottom?
