Catapres is a prescription drug right? I noticed that there are some online companies that sell it w/o a prescription. How do they get around that?

I have just come across a homeopathic medicine called nerve tonic by Highland’s. It is interesting because it has magnesium in it, which as I posted earlier, helps me out tremendously. Also, I use a powdered form of magnesium called Natural Calm, which works the best. I will try the Nerve Tonic out in the next day or two and let you guys know how it is.

I am a nurse and one thing I can tell you about the magnesium is that we use it to supress labor on pregnant moms and use it to lower blood pressure, At high levels it is effective. So I suppose since it relaxes a uterus to keep pts from contracting and if it can relax the muscles for blood pressure, I can see where it might reduce blushing by relaxing everything. I do have a question, too, about how much people are taking to achieve this.

By looking at what you're taking, it seems as though being sedated helps you with blushing.

Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant. I know this because people that take uppers (xtc, speed) use it to prevent physical tension, especially jaw clenching / teeth grinding.

Magnesium has always been a bit too expensive in my local area so I've never bought it.

List of Sedatives:

Barbiturates
secobarbital (Seconal)
pentobarbital (Nembutal)
amobarbital (Amytal)
Benzodiazepines
diazepam (Valium)

temazepam (Restoril)
chlordiazepoxide (Librium)
flunitrazepam (Rohypnol)
lorazepam (Ativan)
clorazepate (Tranxene)
Imidazopyridines
zolpidem (Ambien)
alpidem
Pyrazolopyrimidines
Zaleplon (Sonata)
Antihistamines
diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Sominex)
dimenhydrinate (Dramamine)
doxylamine
Antipsychotics
Typical antipsychotic
Fluphenazine (Prolixin)
Haloperidol (Haldol)
Thiothixene
Trifluoperazine
Loxapine (Loxitane)
Perphenazine
Prochlorperazine (Compazine)

Hi Easier2Run. How long have you been taking it and has it helped with blushing or flushing?

I started magnesium yesterday and was going to take 3 a day (1 with every meal). My boyfriend (who is a nurse) reckons I should only take 2 a day.

For those of you taking magnesium, how much are you taking a day?

Anyone been taking it a while and noticed any benefit?

if magnesium works for you I would guess that something like remeron would help you. Magnesium is important to muscles and remeron should be good for tension headaches and blushing. I spoke to my neurologist today and we agreed that if my tension headaches got worse I could try remeron. I dont need anti-depressants but have heard they should work on many of my symptoms tension-wsie and flushing-wise.
BTW, if you are a depressive male Ive heard that antidepressants rarely have any effect..they should work much better on women's depression.

I HAVE BEEN TAKING MAGNESIUM FOR MORE THAN A MONTH. I HAVE NOTICED A GREAT IMPROVEMENT OVER MY FACIAL BLUSHING. I USED TO BLUSH A LOT, ALMOST EVERY DAY.........NOW MY BLUSHING HAS BEEN CUT A LOT, ALMOST DISAPEARED! WHENEVER IT HAPPENS IT ONLY LASTS A FEW SECONDS........OF COURSE THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN CURE IT PERMANENTLY, I SUGGEST TO YOU TO TRY IT!! AND IT IS NOT HARMFULL, IT IS A MINERAL THAT OUR BODY NEEDS EVERY DAY. I GET EVERY DAY TWO PILLS

Interesting...So how how many mg are you taking per day?
Is anyone else seeing a big improvment on Magnesium?

Surely Bob has tried it too?
