Well it started off badly, tailed off a bit in the middle, and the less said about the end the better !

Try putting this thread in the anouncements section. Messages tend to get buried everywhere else. Can you buy this stuff off the internet?

Do you think this belongs in the announcements section? I didn't know regular members were aloud to post there. And you can by this stuff over the counter in the US, I don't think it would be hard to find online either. It's actually a medicine that is used to break up mucus and stuff and help relieve pain for someone who has fibromyalgia. The particular brand of Guaifenesin I am taking is called Mucinex, hence its intended use. It comes in either 20 or 40 600mg tablet packages and the 40 tablet one cost $19.99 US.

Sup Squallsoft,
Your not red at all. Is this because of those vitamins or are you just imagining your redness? I don't see any contrast from your neck to your face. Post a before and after pic and I'll know what your talking about regarding Guaifenesin.

I think you misunderstood. That is the after pic. I don't have a before picture because I really would never let anyone take a picture of me when my face is red. What I'm saying is that my face is usually always extremely red and after only two days of taking Guaifenesin, I now look how I do in that picture. It's amazing.
Your just going to have to trust me that my face is usually extremely red, I'm not making this up. In 9th grade I had to be pulled out of school for the whole year because it was so bad and I couldn't handle it. So what I was saying about the contrast from my face to my neck is that before taking guaifenesin, my face used to be extremely red but my neck remained normal so it resulted in a very strange kind of "cut-off" line. The reason why I posted a profile view is so that you could see that there was no longer any contrast from my face to my neck.
I realize that I'm not red in that picture, that's the point. I went from 3 years of horrible facial redness to what you now see in that picture in two days flat.
P.S. - It feels amazing to finally be able to have someone tell me I'm not red at all, thank you.

Thank you, it feels good to hear that. I can't say for sure whether it would work for blushing or not, as I haven't been in any sort of situation that would make me blush since I started taking the guaifenesin. I can say however say that since taking it, my face has felt much more calm. It normally feels very hot and as though I could blush at the drop of a dime. For the past two days though it has felt fine, not hot at all. I feel as though it would take a lot to make me blush.
I would say try it, just don't get your hopes up, because I would hate to do that to someone. But I mean, it's cheap, easy to get, and has no side effects, so why not try it?

Interesting,
Guaifenesin is an expectorant used in cough medicines. Worth a bash though.

Yes, it is. So I would imagine high doses of cough medicine would have a similar effect, of course it would probably get you high as well. But yeah, the stuff I have is just straight up guaifenesin in pill form. I have noticed no side effects whatsoever.

Glad to hear that you found something that works for you. I honestly can't detect any redness in your pic. I've never hear of this stuff your talking about. What is it?

Big Red round, the amount they put in cough medicines is so miniscule that it would not make a difference. As Squall said, you should take it on it's own in pill form.
Squall, because this is used often for firbomyalgia, mucus, etc., why do you think it works for flushing?

This is a post from these ESFB forums. It's in the rosacea forums on page 6 and the topic is called "cure for rosacea".

I have learned how to completely clear up my skin for a few hours a day. I seek advise on other methods or treatments which I can experiment with. What has worked for you? Does anyone find any prescription medications effective? I would greatly appreciate your help with my problem, thanks.
Hello, I tried the usually recommended medication years ago and it made matters worse.
About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The rheumatologist basically told me there wasn't anything that could be done to help alleviate my pain and aches. I was nearly crippled in my left leg because of the muscle pain. But I didn't give up. I went online to find another avenue and found not only the "cure" for Fibro but the "cure" for Rosacea.
I began taking Guaifenesin. It's action is an anti-inflammatory for the lungs. The drug eliminated my aches and pains enough that I began a lifestyle change this year. With that I stopped the medication. I haven't had any pain or aches since. My Rosacea completely cleared up. My face was clear WITHOUT redness, flushing, pustules, raised patches, etc.
However my Rosacea returned as if it had never disappeared as soon as I stopped the drug.
I have a new doctor and she asked me when I was first diagnosed with Rosacea. [It was in 1997.] She hadn't seen the symptoms on my skin since she began to see me in 2003. She suggested I go back on the drug and see what happens. That was on March 9, 2005. I began the drug on March 12, 2005 and on Wednesday, 16 March 2005 all that remained was a slight red flushing of my cheeks and some very small patches of scaly skin.
I started with pustules, redness, itching, raised patches, scaly skin on nose, eyebrows and forehead, and red and runny eyes.
I take the 600 mg time released tablets, 1 per day. My doctor said to scale back to as little as possible. So that might be 1 tablet every 2 - 3 days. I wont know until I experiment to find the right timing for me.
You need to drink at least 8 glasses of water with this medication because of how it works in the body. You can find out more about Guaifenesin at: http://www.RXlist.com/"
That's how I found out about Guaifenesin. It's helped me with permanent sustained redness, that's all, so I don't know about flushing. But I'll tell you what guys, my face was lobster red last week, and today is the third day I've been taking the guaifenesin and it only keeps getting better and better. Honestly, these past few days have been like a dream come true, as my skin still looks how it does in that first picture I posted. You don't even want to know how bad it was before.
We're all here for some reason, whether it be FF, FB, HH or whatever. Now imagine if one day you just woke up and your problem was gone. Wouldn't that be incredible. That, in effect, is what I have experienced in the past few days. I'm not even going to say any more, this is just to great for words.

I wouldn't get too excited about this drug.
Squallsoft is one of the lucky rosacea sufferes (as if there are any) - rosacea caused by stomach issues and i think its called H. Pylori.

Squallsoft, what is it like for flushes like after excercise or exposure to triggers like heat/cold, sun spicy foods? Or is it just good for perm redness

I think fut is right, I don't think everyone should get their hopes up.
And Big Red, I've been getting the feeling these past few days that it really would not help for those flushes that come on all of a sudden as a result of food, excercise, etc. It's just that, I usually have a pretty deep permanent redness to my face, and this drug has reduced it to almost nothing in just a few days.
